How to Safely Transfer Your Coin Wallet to a New Phone Without Losing Money

If you have upgraded or replaced your phone, you don’t need to create a new crypto wallet from scratch. Instead, you can safely transfer your existing wallet to your new device using your seed phrase. This guide explains how to securely move your Coin Wallet to another phone while keeping full access to your assets.

Installing Coin Wallet on a New Device

To transfer your Coin Wallet to a new phone, you will need the seed phrase from your current wallet. The Coin Wallet app is cross-platform, and the same 12-word seed phrase works on Android, iOS, the web, and other devices. This means you can restore your wallet on any new device regardless of the platform.

  • On Android: Open Google Play (or Galaxy Store, AppGallery for some devices) and install the official Coin Wallet app from the developer CoinSpace.

  • On iOS: Go to the App Store and find the Coin Wallet app (developer CoinSpace). Install it on your new iPhone.

Between platforms (Android ↔ iOS): The process is the same. Simply download Coin Wallet from the appropriate store and launch it. Since the wallet is cross-platform, your seed phrase from the old device will work on the new one regardless of the operating system.

Restoring a Wallet Using the Seed Phrase

When you open the app on the new device, tap Open Existing Wallet. A form for entering the seed phrase (12 words) will appear. Enter all the words of your seed phrase in the correct order manually (each word separated by a space). Scanning a seed-phrase QR code is not supported.

After entering the phrase, tap Confirm. The app will then synchronize data from the blockchain and display your balance.

After the restoration, all your coins and tokens will appear in the new wallet (synchronization may take a few seconds). If some assets are not visible, make sure the required token is added to the currency list or contact Coin Wallet support support@coin.space.

Security Settings After Transfer

Once the app is restored, configure the wallet’s local security:

  • Set a 4-digit PIN to access the app. This protects the wallet if your phone is lost.
  • Enable Face ID or Touch ID when possible. Biometrics speed up access and add an additional security layer.

Risks and Recommendations

Keep in mind, losing the seed phrase means losing access. The seed phrase is the only method to restore the wallet. If you lose or forget it, you will not be able to recover access to the wallet or your funds. In Coin Wallet (as in any self-custodial wallet), no one can restore the phrase for you.

Use only the official Coin Wallet app and website. Never enter your seed phrase into third-party or suspicious apps. Be alert to phishing sites and links, as they can steal your keys.

Enter seed phrase words carefully: Check that each word is typed correctly. Any typo (an extra or missing letter) will make recovery impossible.

Also, check the balance after recovery: make sure all your cryptocurrencies appear in the new wallet. If the balance is missing or some tokens do not show up, check the currency settings or contact Coin Wallet support.

And the final point: if you no longer plan to use your old phone, you may delete the app and its data. This prevents accidental access to the wallet if the device ends up in someone else’s hands. However, before deleting anything, make sure the seed phrase is stored properly and the wallet works on the new device.
