Which Wallets Support Monero (XMR)?

Full list of wallets that support Monero (XMR).
This list is based on the official Monero website, official community Reddit threads, and side projects by Monero community members.
- Monero GUI / CLI - The official Monero wallet by the Monero community. Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. GUI is suitable for most users, CLI is for developers and advanced users. Runs a full node and downloads the entire blockchain. Maximum privacy and decentralization, but requires significant disk space and time to sync.
- Coin Wallet - Self-custodial multi-coin wallet founded in 2015. Available on Web, iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux. No blockchain scanning required - transactions are verified locally by transaction ID. Supports Tor (.onion version available). Open source, multi-coin.
- Feather - Lightweight open-source desktop wallet. Connects to remote nodes, supports Tor. Requires time to sync with the blockchain.
- Cake Wallet - Open-source mobile wallet for iOS and Android. Connects to remote nodes, requires time to scan transactions.
- Monerujo - Android-only open-source wallet. Requires connection to a remote node. Monero only.
- Stack Wallet - Open-source multi-coin wallet for iOS, Android, and desktop. Uses remote nodes, synchronization with the blockchain takes time.
- Unstoppable Wallet - Open-source mobile wallet for iOS and Android. Non-custodial, multi-coin. Uses remote nodes, blockchain sync takes time.
- Edge - Mobile wallet for iOS and Android. Shares your view key with their server for faster syncing. Convenient, but a privacy trade-off worth knowing about.
- ANONERO - Android-only privacy-first wallet. Open-source, non-custodial. Tor and I2P native — all traffic routed through Tor by default. Available only via .onion address, APK download only.
- Zelcore - Non-custodial multi-coin wallet for Windows, macOS, Linux. Connects to remote nodes.
- MMGen Wallet - Terminal-based CLI wallet for Linux, macOS, and Windows. Air-gapped design: all secret operations (wallet creation, key generation, transaction signing) happen on an offline machine. Never connects to the internet except through the coin network itself. For advanced users only.
- eigenwallet (formerly UnstoppableSwap) - Desktop wallet for Linux, macOS, and Windows. Built-in Tor - all traffic routed through Tor by default. Supports sending and receiving Monero, plus peer-to-peer atomic swaps BTC→XMR with no KYC. Open source.
- Ledger (Nano S, S Plus, X) - Hardware wallet. Your private keys are stored on a physical device that never connects to the internet. Must be paired with a software wallet: Monero GUI, CLI, Feather.
- Trezor (Model T, Safe 3, Safe 5) - Hardware wallet. Same principle as Ledger. Works with Monero GUI, CLI, and Feather.
- Kraken - The only major exchange currently supporting Monero (XMR) trading pairs in USD, EUR, CAD, AUD, and CHF. Custodial — you don't own the private keys. Useful for trading, not for storage.

Monero Wallets with Tor Support
When a wallet connects to a remote node, the node operator can see your IP address. This links your real-world identity to your Monero activity — even if the transaction itself is private. Tor routes traffic through a chain of encrypted relays, hiding your IP from the node. For Monero users, this closes one of the few remaining metadata leaks when not running a full local node.
Native Tor support:
- Coin Wallet — .onion version available link + Tor via Orbot on mobile
- Feather — built-in Tor
- ANONERO — Tor and I2P by default, all traffic routed through Tor
Configurable Tor support:
- Monero GUI / CLI — transactions can be routed through Tor/I2P
Hardware Monero wallets
Hardware wallets store your private keys on a physical device that never connects to the internet. They don't work standalone — they need to be paired with a compatible software wallet.
Ledger (Nano S, Nano S Plus, Nano X) — Works with Monero GUI, Monero CLI, Cake Wallet, Feather, and Monerujo.
Trezor (Model T, Safe 3, Safe 5) — Works with Monero GUI, Monero CLI, and Feather.
Hardware wallets are the safest option for long-term storage of significant amounts.
Custodial Wallets (Exchanges)
Exchanges like Binance and Kraken let you hold XMR in an account. It's fast and convenient, but you don't control the private keys — the exchange does. If they're hacked, go offline, or freeze withdrawals, your funds are at risk. Most exchanges also require identity verification, which removes the privacy that Monero provides by design.
Useful for trading. Not recommended for storage.
Known Issues and Community Notes
Monero GUI / CLI
- When using Simple Mode (remote node), the node operator can see your IP address and in some cases may be able to reduce your privacy. The official FAQ warns: running a personal node is the safest option. Source: getmonero.org FAQ
- In August 2025, a privacy leak bug was discovered and fixed in v0.18.4.2: a malicious remote node could expose ring signature data. Updating is strongly recommended. Source: getmonero.org release notes & Source: @monero on X
Coin Wallet
- Unlike other light wallets, Coin Wallet does not scan the blockchain in the background. Incoming transactions are not detected automatically — the transaction ID must be entered manually for the balance to update. This is by design (no node connection = maximum privacy), but it can catch new users off guard. Feather Wallet
- In April 2024 a denial-of-service incident occurred and was documented with a public postmortem - considered a sign of a transparent, well-run project. Source: CryptoSlate review
Cake Wallet
- Syncing Monero on mobile is a known ecosystem-wide issue, not specific to Cake Wallet. Seth for Privacy (VP of Cake Wallet) discussed it publicly as a systemic challenge in this podcast episode. Source: Watchman Privacy Podcast, Episode 175
Edge Wallet
- Edge's own blog openly discloses the privacy trade-off: view keys were stored on MyMonero servers, meaning MyMonero could see your balance if their infrastructure was compromised. Source: edge.app blog
- Since MyMonero shut down in January 2026, it is unclear how Edge currently handles Monero view key syncing.

Wallets That No Longer Support Monero
Rino Wallet - Multi-signature Monero wallet designed for teams and businesses. Shut down on October 31, 2024, after failing to achieve sustainable monetization. The team cited the lack of professional tooling adoption in the Monero ecosystem as the core challenge. Partially open-source. (Source)
Exodus - Dropped Monero support on August 18, 2025. The official reason was streamlining product offerings and declining XMR usability within the app. Source
MyMonero - Shut down permanently on January 6, 2026, after over a decade of operation. In the official announcement on r/Monero, founder fluffyponyza stated that light wallets requiring view keys are increasingly at odds with Monero's privacy evolution. All server data: view keys, transaction history, account information, logs was permanently destroyed on February 6, 2026. (Source)
Mysu - Android-only wallet that was available via I2P and F-Droid. GitHub repository is no longer maintained. The project moved source code to I2P and development appears to have stalled.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most anonymous Monero wallet?
For maximum anonymity, the safest options are: Run your own full node — Monero GUI / CLI in Advanced Mode. No third party involved at any point. Use a wallet with native Tor support: Feather (built-in Tor), ANONERO (Tor and I2P by default), or Coin Wallet (.onion version or Orbot on mobile). These hide your IP even when connecting to a remote node. Coin Wallet - no node connection at all. Transactions are verified locally, so no IP is ever exposed to a node operator.
Why does Monero wallet sync take so long?
All wallets that connect to remote nodes have to scan the blockchain block by block using the private view key. The further behind a wallet is, the longer it takes - sometimes hours or days on the first run. A few things that can help: Using a public node - try switching to a different one, some are significantly faster than others. Running your own node — check your internet connection speed, it makes a big difference. Or skip syncing entirely — Coin Wallet requires no blockchain sync at all, transactions are verified locally by transaction ID
Do I need to download the entire Monero blockchain to use XMR?
No. Running a full node requires downloading the entire blockchain - currently over 200 GB - but most wallets connect to remote nodes instead, skipping the download entirely. The trade-off is privacy: a remote node operator can see your IP address and knows you are using Monero. Options without downloading the blockchain: any light wallet or Coin Wallet which requires no node connection at all. Options with full local node: Monero GUI / CLI in Advanced Mode. Requires disk space and time to sync.
